Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine

What is Acupuncture:

The origins of acupuncture in China can be traced back to at least 2000 years ago. It has long been recognized as a safe, effective, natural method of medical treatment and has become very popular, being used by people all over the world. Acupuncture treatment involves the insertion of fine, sterile needles into specific points (acupuncture points) on the body. The practitioner may also stimulate the acupuncture points using other methods, including Moxibustion, Cupping, electro-stimulation and Chinese massage.

How acupuncture works:

Acupuncture follows the theory of Chinese Medicine. The theoretical system of Chinese Medicine is based mainly on two characteristics of conception of holism and treatment determination based on syndrome differentiation. How our body keeps healthy: Harmony and balance. Acupuncture is a method which can adjust our body back to harmony and balance when illness or disease has occurred. When healthy, an abundant supply of life energy (also called Qi) flows through the body smoothly. If, due to pathogenic factors, emotional affects, poor diet, overworking, or injuries, the energy has been

blocked or damaged, then the body will fail to maintain harmony and balance, disease or illness follows. Through the use of different manipulations working on different acupuncture points, acupuncture can tonify inadequate and clear excess, regulate qi and blood, remove blood stagnation and sooth the blocked energy, to bring the body back to balance.
