Stress
Stress is the body's natural subconscious reaction to danger. The funny thing is that this danger doesn't even have to be real. It can be just the perception of a potential threat or a fearful situation that automatically triggers the body's fight or flight response just as if you were being chased by a tiger and in fear for your life.
Anxiety
Anxiety is closely related to stress. The difference is that stress is the body's reaction to immediate circumstances, whereas anxiety is the body's reaction to fear and uncertainty about the future.
Both reactions are modern out of control evolutionary survival mechanisms that we have inherited from our ancient relatives.
